An investigation of thiol/disulfide homeostasis and ischemia-modified albumin levels to assess the oxidative stress in dogs with canine distemper

This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of thiol/disulfide homeostasis (TDH) and ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) levels in evaluating oxidative stress dogs with canine distemper. The materials consisted 24 cross-breed dogs: 18 distemper (CD group) 6 healthy as control. Blood samples for analysis antioxidant-oxidant parameters were taken from both groups. In addition TDH (native thiol [NT], total [TT], disulfide [Ds] Ds/NT, Ds/TT, NT/TT ratios), IMA (ALB) also determined blood serum CD group significantly higher than control (P<0.05). Antioxidant (NT, TT) oxidant (Ds, Ds/TT) exhibited a significant positive correlation among themselves (P<0.01). areas under ROC curve IMA, Ds/TT 0.78, 0.62, 0.62 respectively. high Ds, low NT, TT, ALB can be used assess caused by disease. Overall, performances detection increased similar, but was superior.
